Präsident Danny Faure hat heute Morgen im State House eine Delegation der Europäischen Union (EU) unter Leitung des EU-Botschafters auf den Seychellen, S.E. Vincent Degert, empfangen.

On behalf of the Government of Seychelles, the President thanked the EU for its continued support, particularly in capacity building and maritime security, and reiterated his commitment to further strengthening the partnership between the EU and Seychelles.

"We share a common history with the European Union and as like-minded partners we share common values," the President said.

President Faure also thanked the EU delegation and Seychelles officials for leading another successful political dialogue.

During the meeting, President Faure was briefed on the 7th EU-Seychelles Political Dialogue, which aims to strengthen the partnership for a sustainable and peaceful future, in addition to other meetings with local stakeholders in areas where the EU and Seychelles have common interests.

The Head of State and the EU delegation also addressed critical areas of cooperation, including the environment, climate change, anti-corruption, regional cooperation as well as maritime security.

The EU delegation was composed of representatives of 11 European Union Member States and the Deputy Commander of the EU Naval Force Atalanta.

Also present was the Seychelles Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mrs Beryl Samson.
