The Seychelles are a group of islands in the Indian Ocean, located east off the coast of Africa, north-east of Madagascar and just a few degrees south of the equator. The archipelago consists of 115 islands. The capital is Victoriawhich is located on the main island of Mahé.
The Seychelles have a small Population of just over 92,000 inhabitants with a mixture of African, Asian and European ancestry, which has given rise to a modern Creole culture. French and English are the official languages alongside Seychelles Creole.
The majority of the islands are uninhabited and more than 50 % of the total land area is protected (a world record), making the Seychelles a pioneer in sustainable tourism.
