Telephone & Internet in the Seychelles

PHONE & INTERNET IN THE SEYCHELLES

The providers for telephone and internet in the Seychelles

Interesting facts about telephone & internet on the Seychelles:

Seychelles has a modern and efficient communication system. There are currently 2 telephone providers to 4G Standard, Cable & Wireless and Airtel. 5G is also already active. SIM cards are available in most districts of the main islands in the Indian Shops, in the Airport or directly from the providers. An international roaming agreement is in place between Seychelles and most countries.

Internet Service Providers, Internet cafes, post offices and courier services can be found in and around Victoria. Internet cafés are now also increasing in the Beau Vallon area on Mahé, but also on Praslin and La Digue. There is also a post office on Praslin and La Digue.

Cable-&-Wireless Seychelles

In May 2012, the Seychelles East Africa System (SEAS) cable, which connects the island archipelago to the global fibre optic data network, reached the Seychelles on the west coast in Beau Vallon. This project by the government and the two local telephone companies has significantly stimulated the service sector, but also the other sectors of Seychelles' economy. Internet availability has increased, while costs have fallen significantly compared to the previous satellite-based system.

Charge airtel

If you plan to buy a SIM card in the Seychelles to use data and internet, you should buy a prepaid SIM card from airtel. Top up 500 SCR and get 750 SCR credit. Then dial *121# with your smartphone and choose the 4 for "mobile broadband" in the menu. Then select the 2 for "data packs". Now book the 3 GB data volume for 499 SCR and call with the remaining 251 SCR.

Charging Cable & Wireless

Buy prepaid SIM card in e.g. Indian Shop, then follow this link online:
Boosters
Choose "data 3000" and get 3 GB, or pay the exact amount of 549 SCR in the Indian Shop.

The small advantage of airtel over Cable & Wireless is the small phone credit you get when you pay in the 500 SCR lump sum instead of the direct deposit of 499 SCR for Data only.

Incidentally, there is only one internet submarine cable and that is operated by Cable & Wireless. This infrastructure is also used by airtel, so the quality is the same for both.
