Located in the northern part of Mahé, Anse Machabée is a small beach that is often ignored while offering exceptional views, beautiful sand and great opportunities for swimming and snorkeling.
There is a cold river that ends directly at the beach.
About 200m further along the main road towards Beau Vallon there is the Machabee Rockpool, a natural seawater pool protected by granite rocks. There is also a small, unnamed beach at low tide.
Directions::
From Victoria, head north on 5th June Avenue.
After the English River Clinic, go straight across the roundabout onto the North Coast Road and follow it for 15 minutes.
After Carana beach and the Carana Beach Hotel, the road is a little inland and goes uphill and downhill. The beach is just after a bend to the right opposite the supermarket. Next to the wall of the bus shelter, a stone staircase goes down to the beach.
Parking is available at the roadside shortly after the supermarket (small bulge).
The Machabee rock pool you will find a little bit further the road towards Beach Vallon. On the right side of the road is a grey stone wall.
Parking is also possible at the roadside.
Bus:
Route 20 Glacis via Anse Etoile
Route 22 Glacis via Beau Vallon (this bus circles from Victoria around the northern tip back to Victoria).
