Curieuse is located in the middle of the marine national park of the same name off the northwest coast of Praslin. It is the only island outside Praslin where the Seychelles nut palm (coco de mer) grows in the wild. Nature grows. A breeding station for giant tortoises has been established in the nature reserve on the island. In addition, several dozen hawksbill turtles come to the island every year to lay their eggs. The house of the doctor who once looked after the leper colony there dates back to the 19th century. It has been renovated and now houses a small museum.
