The island of Desroches is located 230 kilometres southwest of Mahé and is part of the Amirantes archipelago, which is famous for diving and fishing. Desroches is about five kilometres long, but only one and a half kilometres wide. The island is protected by an offshore coral reef, and framed by a total of 14 kilometres of sand.
Beachwhich in turn is lined on the land side by coconut palms and casuarinas. The trees of the former plantation provide pleasant shade for the entire island. Some of the plantation workers in the small island settlement still live from copra extraction, which was once their only source of income. From the lighthouse at the eastern end of the island you can enjoy a magnificent view.
The Desroches Island Resort offers 20 junior suites and 28 four-bedroom villas of 440 m² each, furnished in the Creole style typical of the country. The accommodations are located only a few meters from the sea amidst tropical flowers and palm trees and all have direct access to the beach.
