President Faure welcomed this accreditation and took the opportunity to inform the Swiss diplomat of the importance he attaches to strengthening the already existing friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Chasper Sarott, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Seychelles

I am pleased with the excellent quality of our relations and I am convinced that our common determination will enable us to consolidate and raise them to an ever higher level in the interest of our two nations and within the framework of a mutually beneficial partnership," he said.

In this perspective, President Faure and Ambassador Sarott discussed the sectors that could contribute to the development of these relations, particularly in the areas of tourism, education, health, research, economic development and nature conservation.

At the press briefing after the meeting with the President of Seychelles, Mr Sarott added that during his term in office he would try to strengthen cooperation in the above-mentioned areas, but also in the field of culture.

It should be noted that Seychelles and the Swiss Confederation established diplomatic relations on 9 March 1981 and Ambassador Sarott is based in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The accreditation ceremony was attended by the State Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Blue Economy, Ambassador Barry Faure, the Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dr Marina Confait, and senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
