ANSE DES ANGLAIS

ANSE DES ANGLAIS

Beach in the west of Mahé

Worth knowing about the ANSE DES ANGLAIS:

Hidden and relatively unknown beach in the west of Mahé.

The Anse des Anglais is only accessible on foot and only at low tide. (Consider this also for the way back!)
It offers a great and deserted photo motif.
Stony ground in the water therefore water shoes are recommended

Just a stone's throw away from Port Launay beach and right next to Pointe Paul is the Anse des Anglais, a secluded bay with some spectacular rock formations and an ideal photo opportunity. It is not accessible by road, but only on foot or by boat from the adjacent beach of Port Launay.

Directions:
From Victoria, the route leads across the mountains to the west coast of the Island. You can either take the Sans Soucis Road - it has many many curves and you can enjoy the view over Victoria at the Rochon Dam Viewpoint (next to the Greek Consulate) and stop on the way at Mission Lodge with a view over the west coast. For nature lovers, I recommend taking this road.
The second possibility is La Misere Street. There is also a lookout point there with a view over Eden Iceland and the St. Anne Marine Park. La Misere Road is more densely populated than Sans Soucis Road, but the mountain to overcome is a little smaller with less sharp curves.
Arrived on the west side you follow the Westcoast Road to the right towards north. Pass the Ephelia Hotel until you reach the "Port Launay Busterminal". Here you will find parking spaces at the roadside.
Travel time approx. 35 minutes
Bus: Route 13 "Port Launay via La Misere" or Route 14 "Port Launay via Sans Soucis".
One crosses the beach "Port Launay" until the end and finds there a rather moderately trampled path with some misleading dead ends. If one finds the way at first go it is a 15 minutes walk
