Grand' Anse on the southwest coast of Mahé is, as the name suggests, an impressive sandy bay. Although it is not suitable for swimming due to the strong undercurrents, the beautiful long beach with its lapping waves is certainly recommended for relaxing and restful walks by the sea.
Directions: From the clock tower in Victoria, drive down Francis Rachel Street to the Unity Monument (Unity Monument), which consists of four fish. At the roundabout, take the third exit to Mont Fleuri Road and continue on this road until the next roundabout in Plaisance. There too, take the third exit to La Misère Road, which will take you across the mountain and on the opposite side of the island to the confluence with Grand' Anse. Turn right and drive about 800 meters to the beach of Grand' Anse. The total driving time is about half an hour.
